Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday for many of us because it doesn’t revolve around gifts and buying things. It is centered around family and food. It is about sharing time together, telling stories (some new and some that are told every year), and yes, indulging in food. Probably food you try to avoid all year long.
Beyond the food, it is about home. It is about making your home cozy and warm. It’s about getting out the good dishes and cloth napkins. It’s as much about the turkey as it is about how pretty your Thanksgiving table looks. At least that is what we think and probably drive ourselves crazy trying to create. (If you’d like a good chuckle at what we have done in the past to get ready for Thanksgiving, check out this old post).
We thought it would be fun to round up some of our favorite ways to dress up your table for dinner for this festive day wth family and friends. Not sure where to begin? Start with a table runner to get your color palette and go from there. We found this one which has a great many colors to choose from.
Next we added some candles, napkins, plates, stemware, and glassware.
To get that collected over time look, be sure to mix and match, add some shimmer and texture through a glint of gold, woven fabrics, wood, ceramics, baskets, and color. A beautiful table is much like decorating a room, you want it to look collected and layered. Not matchy-matchy.
