How would you describe yourself when it comes to decorating your home? Does ruthless come to mind?
For me, that is a word I’d use to describe how I go about decorating because not everything fits and you may live something but it doesn’t mean it works. Sure, I’ve passed on some amazing things and cried over passed over beauties, but at the end of the day you can’t have it all…in one house.
A question that we are asked frequently is what’s your design aesthetic? Personally, we live in an eclectic, bohemian/traditional/farmhouse environment, but what does that mean? It means that’s what we like and how we live, however we love modern design, farmhouse, glam, etc. we can make most styles work because it really comes down to knowing design principles and playing with the elements of design too.
So, I’m pretty ruthless and so is my mother/design partner. We’ve tossed and repurposed many items because they just don’t work, so why hang on to it? Why are you hanging onto many items/furniture/objects that just don’t work? Have you honed your look?
Food for thought on this Monday am. Maybe we’ve given you the okay you needed to be a little ruthless.
