They are man made products, that include;
Acrylic, Polyester, Quartz, and Cultured Marble.
very versatile, can be molded into any shape and any color.
seamless, non porous, although high heat can damage.
does not require any sealing like natural stone.
polyester (Avonite) has glossier look than acrylic and less cost than acrylic.
although can be more prone to cracking yet is less cost than acrylic.
acrylic can have better fabrication (better seamimng and less cracking) than polyester.
made up of 90% quartz chips/dust and 10% resin.
rates 7 out of 10 on Mohs hardness scale (diamond =10).
any color can be added to mixture.
solid look-no depth or veining.
non porous, durable.
does not require sealing.
if scratched or marked, can be buffed.
becoming very popular, price can be equal to granite.
made up of marble dust and resin.
looks like marble buy isn’t porous or heat resistant.
not recommended for kitchens.
