It can be cool, modern, and beautiful. Most of all, they give your home that “One-Of-A-Kind.” look we all crave. You can take a plain box of a room and give it architectural detail and patina. Oh! And whimsey. Never underestimate the power of a little bit of a whimsical element.

We recently went on the hunt for some cornices to embellish a salvaged beam we planned to add in a kitchen remodel. The kitchen lacked some architectural detail and we thought this old beam would add that perfect bit of detail we are looking for. Here’s what we found:
