Mixed-media artist, Christine Flynn, may be from Toronto but these prints are so California to us. Although we live in New Hampshire now, we were born and raised in Manhattan Beach, CA. Spring break drives through Palm Springs, strolls down palm-tree-lined streets in L.A., beach bummin’ by the ocean in our hometown — all of these memories come flooding back to us. She might as well have jumped right into our heads and stole these images of our beloved Manhattan Beach life. These sights are so personal for us and yet she totally nailed the vibe. Flynn’s work gives us some serious nostalgia and homesickness, but we love it.

This just says Manhattan Beach California to us.
Christine Flynn is Toronto-based, her work is influenced by both scenic rural imagery and everyday urban landscape. Flynn infuses her large scale photography with added textures and finished in high gloss resin. The resulting unique mixed media artwork is an accumulation of Christine’s keen eye, extensive global experiences, and innate love of nature and travel. “Seeing beauty in the ordinary” her pieces evoke a sense of nostalgia and wanderlust, with a seemingly random bold graphic, number, or color.
Although Flynn’s California photography has us ready to book the next flight to the West Coast, her work in Canada and Iceland is giving us major wanderlust.
Do you have an artiste that captures that feeling of nostalgia for you?
As Native Californians, yes chuckle, chuckle, we do talk just like the SNL skit, we are often asked, "why in the heck did you move here from there?
